June First Thursday includes street vaulting and all-day festivities

This month’s First Thursday Fayetteville festival will take over the downtown square for a full day.

Events are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7.

The festival kicks off with Kids’ Day at the Farmers’ Market with face painting, music, take-home crafts and more.

Music begins at 11 a.m. with DJ Theronious Chunk, followed by performances from the School of Rock students at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The Fayetteville Street Vault competition will take place on Mountain Street featuring former Olympians and elite athletes from across the world, including Olympic gold medalist Stacy Dragila. Setup is scheduled to begin at around 12 p.m. with warmups at 4 p.m. and the official competition at 5 p.m.

Other altitude-themed events include a propcopter available for selfies from the Arkansas Air and Military Museum, a jump section by Altitude Trampoline Park, and games with Experience Fayetteville.

Fayetteville Yoga Fest teachers will offer free yoga classes on the terrace of the Fayetteville Town Center throughout the day. Classes are open to all levels, and attendees are required to bring their own mat and water. A special kids class will begin at 10 a.m., and other classes will be held at 2 and 6 p.m.

As always, First Thursday will feature local beer and food. This month’s brewery is Fossil Cove Brewing Co. who will set up a beer garden at 3 p.m. on the terrace of the Town Center. Food trucks this month include South in Your Mouth, Andouille, Ozark Natural Foods and Pedal Pops.

Openings and other events are planned at the businesses and art galleries around the square, including Art Ventures NWA, Fenix Fayetteville and Stage Eighteen. Other independent artists will sell items on the square.

Free parking is available in the Fayetteville Town Center parking deck and at 207 E. Center St.
