Weekend Flyer: Cate Brothers, Art of Wine, a Razorback Super Regional, and more

Friday, June 8

Our favorite photo of The Cate Brothers / Courtesy

Local legends The Cate Brothers don’t play happy hour at George’s as much as they used to, so whenever they do take the stage, it is an event. The band will be on the big stage at around 6 p.m. Friday night. Better get down there.

How about some comedy? Local comedian Troy Gittings is back home for a local show during the Southtown Comedy showcase at Nomad’s.

If you like wine (and who doesn’t), the place to be Friday night is the Uncorked tasting as part of Walton Arts Center’s annual Art of Wine festival. They’ll have over 100 wines to taste, music, hors d’oeuvres, and more. Last we heard, there were still some last minute tickets available.

Later on, George’s is having a dance party with Somatoast and Fractal Sky.

There’s more below. Have fun.

It’s getting pretty close to peak farmers’ market season. Start down there on Saturday.

It’s super regional weekend! The Diamond Hogs have one final hurdle between then and the road to Omaha, and that hurdle comes to town this weekend in the form of the South Carolina Gamecocks. If the Hogs can take two of three games from the Gamecocks this weekend at Baum Stadium, we’ll be watching them in Omaha next weekend.

Music-wise, there are several good shows in town. You might check out The Funky Knuckles at Sunrise Stage, local rockers Chasing Pictures at George’s, or there’s a summer jazz showcase featuring players from the UA at Stage 18.

There’s plenty more below. Click around down there for details.
