Local troupe to perform ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ June 29-July 1

Want to see some Shakespeare in the park this weekend?

Local troupe the Crude Mechanicals will perform The Bard’s classic comedy Much Ado About Nothing Friday-Sunday in the gazebo at Gulley Park.

For those who aren’t familiar, the troupe was formed in 2014 by a group of current students and recent theatre graduates who have scattered around the country for college, but who enjoy performing in their spare time. Past Shakespeare classics performed by The Crude Mechanicals in Fayetteville include Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, Twelfth Night, Macbeth, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Richard III.

This weekend’s performances will each begin at around 7:30 p.m.

The shows are free to attend, and open to the public, though attendees may offer a donation to the players at the completion of the show.
