Ozark Natural Foods on Friday announced news that could result in a move to downtown Fayetteville.

“This could be the future of the co-op!” the co-op shared on social media, alongside a video showing the exterior of the recently vacated CV’s Family Foods (formerly Saver’s Club and Marvin’s IGA) building at 380 N College Ave. “With the continued support of our ownership and community, we desire to return to our roots in Downtown Fayetteville! Who’s excited?!”

ONF Outreach Meetings
The co-op’s board of directors invites owners to discuss the future of ONF. Meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 9 and July 24 in the co-op’s Community Room at 1554 N. College Ave.

The co-op has operated in its location at Evelyn Hills Shopping Center for nearly 18 years. Officials said the building, which the co-op currently owns, is now under contract to be sold.

“We are very excited about the potential to move to a new space to better serve our community,” the post stated. “Our Board of Directors are going to be having a meeting next Monday to determine dates for Outreach Meetings, which gives owners the opportunity to speak.”

CV’s Family Foods recently closed after several years of changes. It had for years been known as IGA, and then Marvin’s IGA. In 2015, the store closed for remodeling and re-opened as Saver’s Club. About a year later, the company changed the store’s name to CV’s Family Foods.

Ozark Natural Foods first began in 1971 as a cooperative buying club with food stored at the home of one of its members. Soon after, a retail space was organized in the back of Highroller Cyclery on Spring Street. From there, the co-op moved to West Avenue and then to Rock Street before settling on Dickson Street in 1993 inside the building currently occupied by Puritan and Fayettechill. The store moved to its current location at 1554 N. College Ave. in 2000. A purchase of the building was initiated in 2008, and the final mortgage payment was announced in 2012.
