A festival featuring some of the best mountain films in the world is soon coming to Fayetteville.

The local version of the Banff Mountain Film Festival is set for Sept. 12 and 13 at University of Arkansas Walton Conference Hub on the University of Arkansas campus.

The festival is an international film competition featuring movies on mountain subjects. That means climbing, mountain expeditions, remote cultures, and other mountain-related stuff. It began in 1976 and is held annually in Banff, Alberta, Canada.

The touring version set to stop in Fayetteville next month will include some of the best films submitted to the festival. The specific lineup for the Fayetteville festival hasn’t been released yet, but trailers for some of the popular films that have been on tour so far this year are available at the event website.

Doors open both nights at 5:30 p.m., and the films will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for single night events are $18 ($34.20 for both nights), on sale now at fayettevillebanff.com.
