Local chef Miles James has abandoned plans to build a MJ Pizzeria across from Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, but he does have another restaurant in the works for Fayetteville.

The former James at the Mill chef and proprietor and MJ Pizzeria creator told us today he is working on a new concept called MJ Bistro, and he plans to soon open the restaurant on the east side of town.

The new restaurant will be located on Mission Boulevard just to the west of the Crossover Road intersection on a 2.6-acre lot recently purchased by Springdale-based developer Sam Mathias.

The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner with wood-fired pizzas and homemade pastas, along with beef, seafood, pork, and poultry dishes, James said. The restaurant will also serve an extensive list of craft cocktails, wines by the glass, and local and regional craft beers.

James said the restaurant will have a casual atmosphere with a dining room, large bar area, and a patio with a water feature separated from the street.

“We will also probably bring back the wine dinners that we were known for (at James at the Mill),” James said.

The project is still in the early stages, he said. James also has several other irons in the fire at the moment, with plans to build restaurants in downtown Springdale and Centerton also in the works. His previous plan to build a restaurant on Crossover Road fell through, he said, after he couldn’t get the “numbers to pencil out.”

If all goes well, however, James hopes to have MJ Bistro up and running in Fayetteville sometime in late 2019.
