Friday, Aug. 24

It’s Fayetteville Roots Festival week, y’all. That means there’s music (and food, and drink) all over the place in Fayetteville for the next few days. Mainstage headliners on Friday include Raina Rose, Charley Crockett, Birds of Chicago, Mary Gauthier, and Josh Ritter.

Also in Roots Festival music, there’s a big show at George’s with Earl & Them, Charlie Hunter Trio, Arkansauce, and Shook Twins.

Those shows are ticketed, but there are free shows on Friday, too. There’s a fun live broadcast of Ozarks at Large at noon at the Fayetteville Public Library. The show will feature interviews and live performances from festival artists.

Friday night, you can see excellent locals Lost John at Maxine’s Tap Room for free, and you can also check out another great local band, Cutty Rye with special guest Mark Bilyeu of Big Smith sitting in at Kingfish.

There’s a lot more below, and you can see the full Roots Festival lineup here.
