Topgolf has filed preliminary site plans for their new Rogers facility with the city, and hope to break ground on the project next spring.

According to Talk Business and Politics, site plans for the NWA facility were filed with the city of Rogers for technical review on Oct. 19 on behalf of Top Golf by engineering and design firm Crafton Tull.

Plans for the facility show a parking lot on the south end of the lot, with the restaurant/driving range located close to the middle of the property facing north. Players looking out over the range will have a view of the Walmart AMP, and will hit golf balls toward the concert venue neighboring to the north.

Morgan Schaff, Communications Manager for the Dallas-based company on Wednesday confirmed that Top Golf plans to break ground sometime in the spring of 2019.

“We are planning to break ground next spring and hope to be open by 2020,” Schaff said. “It takes 10-12 months to build a Topgolf venue.”

For those who aren’t familiar, Top Golf is sort of a hybrid between an advanced driving range and a restaurant/sports bar/night club. Players hit golf balls containing microchips that track their shot’s accuracy and distance. Points are awarded for hitting targets in the outfield. The venues also serve food and alcohol, host occasional live music events, and are set up with plenty of TVs for watching sports. There are currently 41 locations open around the country, with several more in the works.

Most locations feature three levels, with more than 100 hitting bays that can host up to six players at a time.

The Rogers facility is expected to employ around 300 people in full and part time positions.
