Fundraiser planned Thursday after local business owner’s home damaged in fire

A couple weeks ago, a really nice guy had a really bad day. Now, some locals are coming together to help him out in a time of need.

On Oct. 27, Pinpoint Fayetteville business owner Bo Counts closed his bar and took his staff out to breakfast after a busy Halloween weekend, only to find his business vandalized and his back window broken out upon their return. After spending the night at the bar to stand watch over the business since he couldn’t lock the back door, he returned home to find his apartment was on fire. He lost a lot of things that evening, chief among them, his beloved cat, Sega.

Bo is known locally as a radio, television, and trivia night host, as DJ Beatbachs, and as a thrower of killer Halloween and New Year’s eve parties. He said he didn’t believe the events to be related in any way. Still, even for a pretty positive person, that’s a devastating turn of events.

Several of Counts’ friends have organized a benefit event for Thursday, Nov. 8 at Pinpoint to help cover the expenses associated with the vandalism and the fire.

The Phoenix Jam Fundraiser, as it is called, will feature music by DJ Shortfuze, Mixx Tenn, E-Yo (and possibly, a performance by Counts himself), street/urban dancers from Breaking Habits and Hometown Havex, visual art by TigerSasha, Tommy Tropical, and various works of art curated by local artist, Joelle Storet.

Admission to the event is $5, and proceeds will benefit Bo. A GoFundMe has also been established. For a bit more information, check out the Facebook event.
