Fayetteville firefighters rescue deer with locked antlers

Fire department officials on Monday released video of firefighters rescuing two deer whose antlers became locked together during a fight in a neighborhood in northeast Fayetteville.

The crew was called to the scene after a resident noticed two deer fighting in a backyard.

The video shows the crew holding the deer down and sawing off a portion of one of the animals’ antlers.

From the department:

It’s not that uncommon for bucks to get their antlers locked together while fighting for breeding rights over a doe. The owner stated that they had been hooked together for 2 hours. Both deer ran off after they were freed and are still roaming the neighborhood.
