Weekend Flyer: The Cate Brothers, Big Smith, Tiny Towns, and more

  • By Dustin Bartholomew ·
    December 28, 2018

Friday, Dec. 28

The Cate Brothers / Courtesy

The legendary Cate Brothers are playing their annual holiday happy hour show at George’s on Friday night this weekend. We mistakenly listed this briefly in last week’s Weekend Flyer, so hope we didn’t ruin anyones night with that. Sorry y’all. But, you didn’t miss it. It’s this week. Let’s party.

If you’re still in the holiday spirit, you can keep it going a little bit longer if you’d like. It’s the last weekend to check out TheatreSquared’s holiday show, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberly at Nadine Baum Studios. Here’s ticket info.

There’s a good show at Smoke & Barrel Friday night, with excellent locals Jamie Lou & The Hullabaloo and Will Gunselman. Admission’s $5.

Also in tunes, bluegrass giants (locally, anyway) Big Smith are back together, and they’re playing George’s Friday night as well.

Saturday, Dec. 29

Tiny Towns / Courtesy

It’s the weekend before New Year’s Eve, and with the big party coming up early in the week next week, weekend activities are a little light.

There are still some fun shows, though. Smoke & Barrel has one, with funky Little Rock band The Rios, along with Jonesboro indie outfit, Tiny Towns. There’s no cover.

George’s has a 90s-themed prom party, with 90s tribute band, Dial Up on Saturday night. Tickets are $12-15, available here.

There’s a lot more below. Have a great weekend, everyone.
