Fayetteville’s first private-suite karaoke bar is now open on Block Avenue.

Locals Justin and Mailena Urso just opened their new concept, Big Box Karaoke at 115 N. Block Ave., in the space formerly home to GPP Cycling officially on New Year’s Eve.

Mailena told us over the summer that she and Justin were introduced to the concept with friends when they were living in Japan several years ago, and fell in love with the concept.

It is pretty simple. Instead of a more traditional, open-style karaoke bar with a central stage area where one person at a time can sing, private suites offers smaller rooms for groups of friends to gather and sing, drink, and dine in a more intimate setting.

The new business offers state-of-the art sound system in each suite, Mailena said, with an extensive list of songs for would-be-singers to choose from.

Big Box also offers a full menu of Asian-inspired food items, including Bahn Mi sandwiches, noodle dishes, along with street tacos, kimchi tots, and more.

According to their Facebook page, the bar is open Tuesday-Wednesday from 4 p.m. – midnight, Thursday from 4 p.m. – 1 a.m., Friday from 4 p.m. – 2 a.m., Saturday from 2 p.m. – 2 a.m., and Sunday 2 p.m. – midnight.
