SoNA will celebrate the works of some of the great composers of the 19th century Romantic era this month.

The symphony will perform a concert titled Masterworks II: Verdi & Chopin on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Walton Arts Center.

The performance will feature Giuseppe Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino, considered one of the influential opera composer’s most dramatic works, along with Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2, with special guest pianist Andrew Tyson, and Symphony No. 3, Rhenish, by German composer and music critic, Robert Schumann.

BBC 3 has called Tyson “a real poet of the piano,” and the pianist has won multiple awards for his playing, including first prize at the Géza Anda Competition in Zürich in 2015. He has performed all over the US at Europe, including Brussels Palais des Beaux-Arts, New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Zürich Tonhalle.

The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Prior to the show, ticket holders may also attend a “creative conversation” with Maestro Haas beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the concert hall.

Tickets to Masterworks II: Verdi & Chopin are $32, $44 and $55. To purchase, visit the Walton Arts Center box office, call 479-443-5600, or visit waltonartscenter.org.
