Fayetteville under winter weather advisory Tuesday night, early Wednesday

The National Weather Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of Northwest Arkansas, including Fayetteville in effect from 10 p.m. tonight (Jan. 22) through 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

According to the forecast, a strong cold front will move across the area this afternoon and evening that is expected to bring rain early on that could turn into a mix of winter precipitation including snow, sleet, or freezing rain later this evening.

Accumulations of a couple tenths to an inch of snow and sleet are possible, with a light glaze to a few hundredths of an inch of ice expected. Overnight low temperatures in the low 20s are expected.

NWA cities included in the advisory include Rogers, Bentonville, Berryville, Eureka Springs, Fayetteville, Springdale, Huntsville, and others.
