A local organization that promotes biking in and around Fayetteville is planning a street party later this month.
BikeNWA will host the first of four “Open Streets” events planned around the region in Fayetteville from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday March 31 at the corner of Prairie Street and Government Avenue, just off the Razorback Greenway.
The organization will close the street, and are planning a host of activities, including Giant Jenga, a bounce house, a 50 foot obstacle course, bike demos, a Stryder bike course, live music, free yoga, food trucks, and more.
Parking at the event is limited, so organizers are encouraging attendees to walk or bike to the event if they can.
The event is paid for by a grant from the Urban Land Institute NWA Chapter, which is working on ways to improve the 71B corridor in Fayetteville.

The corridor faces critical challenges such as negative public perception, disconnected sidewalks, and pedestrian access, long-term vacancies, limited neighborhood connectivity, and vehicle-dominated infrastructure. The Urban Land Institute provides leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. Open Streets promote healthy, active living through a series of free events held across the region opening the cities’ largest public spaces – streets – to the non-motorized to walk, bike, skate, and discover active transportation.
Other similar events are in the works for other cities around the region, though no dates for those have been announced just yet.
