Fayetteville residents have a new place to play pickleball.
A city crew recently painted regulation pickleball court lines on both tennis courts at Walker Park, located at the corner of South College Avenue and 15th Street.
From the city:
Pickleball is a family-friendly court sport, played with a perforated plastic ball, like a whiffle ball, and wood or composite paddles about twice the size of those used in ping-pong. Easy for beginners to learn while also a competitive game for experienced players, pickleball has developed a reputation for its friendly and social nature.
The courts at Walker Park are offered in an open play format on a first-come, first-serve basis. Pickleball is also offered indoors at the Yvonne Richardson Community Center at 240 E. Rock Street in southeast Fayetteville from noon to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The tennis courts at Wilson Park are not marked with pickleball lines.
