A Dickson Street tradition will return to Fayetteville this weekend.
Springfest, the annual street festival that began in the 1980s, will return to Dickson Street this Saturday, April 20.
The event includes a street fair featuring local and regional artists, crafters, and businesses selling their wares, live music featuring about a dozen local bands, a pancake breakfast, an Easter egg hunt, and of course, the annual bed races up Dickson Street.
The pancake breakfast begins at 7 a.m. at JJ’s Grill.
After that, a kid’s area will be open at the Walton Arts Center rose garden from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kid zone fun will kick off with an Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. After that, there will be face painting, kids yoga, arts & crafts, and other activities for kids. The kids area is named for Cineca Spring, a Springfest volunteer organizer and music enthusiast who passed away earlier this year.
As always, there will be plenty of music at this year’s event. Main stage headliners on the Bruce Walker Memorial Stage include The Poggs, Ashtyn Barbaree, Melody Pond, and the School of Rock.
There’s also a Jon Edwards Memorial Just Love Stage at Kingfish, featuring performances by Drawing Blanks, Blacklisted, Makin’ Loaf, Jon Shorter Band, Jenna & the Soulshakers, and others.
Live music on both stages will begin at 10 a.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Tri Cycle Farms, and Lifesource International.
