The Beaver Water District will celebrate the kickoff of National Drinking Water Week at 2:15 p.m. Monday, May 6 at the district’s education center, located at 301 N. Primrose Road in Lowell.

National Drinking Water Week is May 5-11. The annual initiative is aimed at recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives.

Local drinking water is sourced from Beaver Lake before being cleaned for drinking by Beaver Water District. It’s then supplied to municipal water departments, including Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville.

Guest speakers at the event include Al Lopez (a.k.a. Papa Rap) of One Community and Melisa Laelan, CEO of the Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese.

The public is invited to attend. Refreshments and a commemorative reusable water tumbler and straw will be provided to those in attendance.
