UPDATED: Police respond to bomb threat at Federal Building

Fayetteville police responded to a bomb threat at the John Paul Hammerschmidt Federal Building on Tuesday.

According to KFSM, a 911 call was placed from someone who overheard someone on CB radio traffic who said “an explosive device was being taken to the federal building.”

Fayetteville Sergeant Tony Murphy told KNWA that police are sweeping the building inside and out with explosive detecting dogs as a precautionary action.

The federal building is located at 35 E. Mountain St. in downtown Fayetteville.

Update: After conducting a sweep of the building and property, police said no bomb or suspicious package was found.
