The students are gone for the summer, and that means its time for the grown ups to take back over Dickson Street (and the rest of the city) for the next few months.

That also means it’s time for the summer lineup of live music coming to George’s Majestic Lounge over the next few months.

As always, the venue has a nice mix of shows coming up featuring national, regional, and local acts.

Big touring shows coming to town this summer include indie pop outfit Smallpools on June 2, songwriter Citizen Cope on June 12, bluesman Delbert McClinton on June 29, rockers Sevendust on Aug. 9, and country/rockers American Aquarium Aug. 18.

There are several tribute shows coming up this summer, including an Elton John Tribute May 25 featuring local artist Jon Shorter, a Prince tribute on June 1, a double tribute on June 14 to David Bowie and Amy Winehouse, a Led Zeppelin tribute focused on the drumming on John Bonham June 28, a Bob Marley Tribute July 5, an encore of Randall Shreve’s tribute to Freddie Mercury July 20, and a Rage Against the Machine tribute on Aug. 17.

There are some big local shows as well, including Crescent City Combo on May 29, Witchsister, Groaners and Moonsong on June 6, White Mansion on June 20 (along with Tulsa band, The Secret Post), Will Brand on June 8, and 1 Oz. Jig on June 21.

Metal fans should be excited about the return of Deadbird on July 13 featuring support by local legends, Vore, along with Serpentine and Bones of the Earth. There’s another big Metal Show on Jly 28 with Eyehategod and others on July 28.

Fayetteville Roots Fest will be happening Aug. 22, and the latenight lineup at George’s this year will feature The Mighty Pines on Aug. 22, and two nights of Big Smith and Arkansauce Aug. 23-24.

The full lineup from now through August is below. Go see some music.
