Climbing competition scheduled for June 13 on Kessler Mountain

How fast can you climb Kessler Mountain?

That’s the question to be answered on June 13 at the Happy Hour Summit Series at Kessler Mountain Regional Park in Fayetteville.

The event is a fundraiser for the Ozark Off Road Cyclists’ Kessler Campaign, a project to raise $125,000 to develop new multi-use trails on Kessler Mountain.

The time trail-style contest includes categories for cyclists and trail runners. Entry fee is $10 per attempt (cash only), and contestants must use the Strava app to record their segment times.

Participants will start from the bottom of the mountain, and then ride or run to the top along parts of the Last Call, Terrapin Station, and Crazy Mary trails.

Registration opens at 4:30 p.m. The bike segment starts at 5:30 p.m. and the running segment begins at 5:50 p.m. An open run/ride will follow at 6:30 p.m.

Refreshments will be provided by Apple Blossom Brewing Co.
