Gulley Park Concert Series continues June 13 with soul artist Devon Gilfillian

The 23rd annual Gulley Park Summer Concert Series continues Thursday, June 13 with a performance by Nashville-based soul artist Devon Gilfillian.

Gilfillian’s 2016 debut EP was influenced by his love of Ray Charles, Al Green and Jimi Hendrix, and led to his eventual signing to Capitol Records and tours performing with Gladys Knight, Keith Urban, The Fray, Mavis Staples, and more.

Earlier this year, Gilfillian traveled to Africa where he was inspired to incorporate Nigerian percussion and psychedelic funk into the recording of his forthcoming full-length album. The first single from those recordings is called “Get Out and Get It,” and is available now (see video above).

The Gulley Park Summer Concert Series is organized by the city’s Parks & Recreation Department, and features free outdoor live music with plenty of room for picnic blankets and lawn chairs throughout the fields surrounding the gazebo stage at Gulley Park in east Fayetteville.

The music starts at 7 p.m., and the concerts are free and open to the public. Coolers are welcome for those who’d like to pack snacks or dinner, but food vendors will be set up in the food truck court on the northwest side of the park by Old Wire Road.
