Weekend Flyer: Dylan Earl album release party, Firefly Fling, Chris Young, and more

Friday, July 19

There’s a big country show at the Walmart AMP on Friday night, with Chris Young, Chris Janson, and Jimmie Allen. Tickets are still available. Here’s where to get ’em.

Also in country music (but different) local artist Dylan Earl will celebrate the release of his new album, Squirrel in the Garden at Smoke & Barrel Friday night.

How about a rock show? Local DIY venue Backspace has a sweet one with Dull, Musclegoose, and The Wirms.

There’s also a three-band bill at George’s Friday night, with Irie Lions, Cadillac Jackson, and Koodookoo.

If something more light-hearted sounds good to you, there’s a comedy night at Nomads featuring comedians Mary Jay Berger and Mikah Wyman.

There’s also a dive-in movie at Wilson Park Pool Friday night. You can check out Mary Poppins Returns at the pool beginning at dark.

There’s more below. Click around for more info on anything that sounds interesting.

Firefly Fling / File photo

The author of the best-selling book in the country will be in town Saturday. Delia Owens, author of Where the Crawdads Sing will read from her work and sign books at a special appearance at Fayetteville Public Library Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

The biggest kid party of the year (that we can think of) is Saturday night at Botanical Garden of the Ozarks. Of course, we’re talking about Firefly Fling. There will be music, and arts and crafts, and firedancers, and tons more. Here’s more info.

The Pickin’ Post host Mike Shirkey has been hosting shows at Ozark Mountain Smokehouse recently, and he’s got one on Saturday night with a band called Mightyfine Time.

How about a celebration of beer and “beer-tails” (those are mixed drinks made with beer)? There’s one of those happening on Saturday and Sunday at the two Nomad’s locations in town. Proceeds benefit the Fayetteville Animal Shelter and Ozark Mixology Education. Here’s more info.

There’s more below. Have a great weekend, everyone.
