Section of MLK Jr. Boulevard closed this week for surface work

A section of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard is scheduled to close this week for a surface work project.

The road will be closed from South School Avenue to South College Avenue from Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26, according to a city news release.

The project includes milling and placing asphalt on the roadway from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. The street will re-open each evening after the work day.

Ozark Regional Transit’s Route 20 will also be affected. The following three stops are the closest to the construction area:

  • South School Avenue at 7th Street
  • South College Avenue at MLK Jr. Boulevard (by Fayetteville Adult Education building)
  • South Gregg Avenue at MLK Jr. Boulevard

City officials said drivers in the area should look for detour signs, and that rain could delay or extend the estimated work time.
