Old Wire Road will be closed from Crossover Road to Oak Bailey Drive while crews work to install a trail tunnel under the roadway.
The road is scheduled to be closed 24 hours a day through Aug. 9, according to a city news release. Only one property is accessed in this section of Old Wire Road, and they have been given permission to use the street.
Other drivers in the area should look for detour signs.
The tunnel is part of the Niokaska Creek Trail extension which links Gulley Park to Mud Creek Trail.
The project also includes drainage improvements and asphalt overlay.
