First Thursday September theme is ‘Intercontinental’

The 2019 First Thursday Fayetteville season continues Thursday, Sept. 5 on the downtown square with an “Intercontinental” theme.

As always, expect artists set up around the square, children’s activities, food, drinks and more.

This month’s fun features live music from Paa Kow Paa Kow, an internationally renowned musician and composer from Ghana, West Africa. Serrano-Torres will also perform lyrical cello accompanied by electronic ambient sounds in collaboration with neon light artist Brian Bailey, choreographer AL Nicx, and belly dancer Paris Richardson.

Food trucks are scheduled to be on site, and local beer will be available from New Province, along with mango margaritas in the beer tent.

There’s also a 4-mile slow roll group bike ride, free yoga, and more.

The fun starts at around 5:30 p.m., and runs until around 8:30 p.m. It’s free to attend, and open to the public.

Aside from art on the square, exhibition openings are planned at several galleries, including Fenix Fayetteville where local artist Jan Gosnell will unveil a new show called Good Humor.

Art Ventures, located on the southwest corner of the square, will host Personal Space, a visual anthology of works by artists representing the “richness of individual vision.” The event includes live music by Dallas and the Spaniard.
