Fayetteville trash transfer station closed for repairs

The city’s trash transfer station, located at 1560 S. Happy Hollow Rd., will be closed Sept. 9-16 for repairs to the facility’s drainage system. The station will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 17 on its normal schedule, which is 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, and 7-10 a.m. on Saturday.

The closure will only affect public and private haulers wanting to use the station to dispose of trash. Normal city recycling and trash collection routes will not be affected.

The station accepts waste that is then loaded into trucks and taken to the Eco Vista Landfill in Tontitown.

When bringing trash to the station, first pull up to the scale house window where vehicles will be weighed. City staff will provide instructions on where to unload trash. Once trash is unloaded, vehicles will return to the scale house to be weighed again to determine the cost of disposal.

Cost is $52 per ton for Fayetteville residents ($60 for non-residents), with a $35 minimum charge, plus tax.

Cash, check, or approved charge accounts only. All major credit cards accepted except Discover.
