The Momentary, the new contemporary art space created by the folks behind Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art doesn’t officially open until Feb. 22 of next year, but the public can get a first look of the new facility this weekend.

Officials recently announced plans for a ‘Meet the Momentary’ event, set for 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 on the Momentary grounds.

The event will include remarks from The Momentary Team, an art talk from sculptor and performance artist Nick Cave, food and drink from local food trucks, live music from Hot 8 Brass Band, and other festivities.

There will be free parking at a lot located at the southeast corner of J and 8th Streets, with accessible parking available at 8th Street Market.

Attendees of the event will have an opportunity to become a member of the Momentary, which comes with early access to events and other benefits. Membership is $75 annually, or $6.50 per month.

The ‘Meet the Momentary’ event is free to attend, and open to the public, though officials are requesting that attendees pre-register in advance.
