With more than 32 million people living with food allergies, including 1 in 13 children, Halloween can be a bit of a challenge.

This year, local businesses Big Box Karaoke and Hedberg Allergy & Asthma have partnered for a new event to help make the holiday a little more fun for everyone.

The businesses recently announced plans for the first ever Be(A)ware Halloween event, an allergy-friendly Halloween party from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at Big Box.

The event will include trick-or-treating at BBK’s 7 private suites that will each be turned into themed-experiences for the kids. Food-allergy friendly treats and no-food treats will be available for the kids as well.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness of food allergies in the community, while raising money to help fund research. 100% of the profits from the event will go toward The Food Allergy Fund.

Organizers are seeking donations and volunteers to help pull off the event.
