A sidewalk construction project will close a portion of Center Street near the University of Arkansas campus for about eight weeks.
The city’s transportation division is set to build a new 6-foot-wide sidewalk along the south side of Center Street between Hartman Avenue and Graham Avenue. The project will also include a new storm drainage pipe with inlet boxes, along with new curb and gutter.
The work began Monday morning (Oct. 21), according to a news release.
Traffic will be restricted in the area from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the street will be reopened on nights and weekends. Officials said an occasional Saturday or extended hours during the week may be necessary to complete the work.
