Fayetteville hires human resources director

Fayetteville has a new human resources director.

The city hired Missy Cole to fill the position earlier this month, according to a news release. She replaced Brenda Reed, who left for a job in the Port of Galveston.

Cole has held HR leadership positions in the industries of health care, banking, and logistics. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Arkansas Tech University, and holds certifications as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), and Advanced Generalist. She also serves on the United Way of Northwest Arkansas board.

As the director of HR in Fayetteville, she will oversee employee hiring and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. She’ll also oversee special and strategic projects; serve as custodian of the city’s employee personnel records; and respond to Freedom of Information Act requests.

“Mayor Lioneld Jordan and his management team are very excited to have Missy on board and look forward to her leadership and energy,” said Susan Norton, the city’s communications director. “Missy said she is looking forward to meeting the rest of the city’s staff and sharing her philosophy of recognizing that the City’s strongest asset is its dedicated and hardworking employees.”
