‘Tis the season for holiday shows in Fayetteville. ‘Tisn’t it?

Just in time, the musical version of one of the most well-loved holiday movies of all time is coming to Walton Arts Center this year.

The WAC will present A Christmas Story, the Musical for eight performances running from Dec. 10-15.

It is almost impossible not to have seen the classic film version of the story, which has famously played for 24 hours every Christmas on TBS since 2004 (and on TNT before that since 1997). The musical version of the show was nominated for three Tony awards in 2013, including Best Musical.

To go along with the show, a replica of the Leg Lamp from the show will be making its way around the region. It will be featured at the Daisy Museum in Rogers Nov. 11-20, at Experience Fayetteville on the square from Nov. 21-Dec. 2, at the Walmart Museum in Bentonville from Dec. 2-9, and at Walton Arts Center during the show’s run Dec. 10-15.

Those who take a photo of themselves with the lamp while it’s in town, and share the photo in the comments of a Facebook post on the Walton Arts Center’s page, will be entered for a chance to win the lamp and a gift card to the Daisy Museum.

A special themed-cocktail class experience is planned before the Dec. 14 performance of the show. Attendees that evening will create their own cocktail during the class guided by a local mixologist, and can also enjoy hors d’oeuvres with the price of admission. Tickets to the cocktail class are $35 plus fees, and participants must be 21 or older.

Tickets to the show start at $40 plus fees. To purchase, visit the Walton Arts Center Box Office, call 479-443-5600, or visit waltonartscenter.org.
