The Fayetteville High School Student Council will hold its 21st annual Homeless Vigil on Thursday, Dec. 5.

During the event, students sleep in makeshift shelters constructed from cardboard to simulate what it’s like to be homeless for a night.

Students will raise money and collect non-perishable food items for Families in Transition from 5-11 p.m. Thursday, and 5-7 a.m. Friday on the north side of the campus by Bulldog Boulevard.

Residents are encouraged to stop during either timeframe to visit with students or donate to the cause.

The 2018 vigil raised about $10,000, according to school officials.
