A Little Rock-based Indian restaurant is planning to expand to Fayetteville this month.

Saffron Indian Cuisine, the restaurant created by Shekhar Rikame and Nikita Salunke in 2018 and located at 12911 Cantrell Rd in Little Rock, is set to open at 401 W Watson St. Ste 203, in the space most recently occupied by The Grillhouse Seafood and Steaks.

Rikame said he and Salunke opened their original restaurant after gaining experience at several other restaurants over the years.

The new location in Fayetteville will serve a buffet during lunch hours with several Indian food favorites, and will focus on menu service in the evenings.

The restaurant will serve cuisine and curry dishes from both North and Southern India regions, he said, and the menu will be in Fayetteville will be very similar to what he serves in Little Rock. Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, Aloo Saag, Paneer Makhani, Lasooni Gobi, Butter Chicken, and Angarey Tandoori Chicken are a few of the items listed on the Little Rock menu.

The building is already in good shape, he said. If all goes well, he plans to be open for business by the middle of this month.
