Fayetteville to offer adult soccer leagues in 2020

Fayetteville will offer adult soccer leagues beginning in 2020, the city’s parks and recreation department announced on Tuesday.

Teams can sign up for either a recreational league or a more competitive league.

League play will be offered in both the spring and fall. Each season includes seven weeks of regular play followed by a post-season tournament. The spring league regular play season will run from March 9 through April 20, and regular season fall play is scheduled from Aug. 31 through Oct. 12.

The 8 vs. 8 teams will play on a short field at Kessler Mountain Regional Park on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. or 8:45 p.m.

Registration begins Wednesday, Jan. 1, and the cost is $485 per team. Rosters must be submitted no later than March 2. Players must be at least 18 years old to be eligible, and there are no residency requirements.

Those who are interested in playing, but don’t have a team can join a free agent list by emailing Lacie Ballard, the city’s recreation program manager at [email protected].
