League of Women Voters to host judicial candidate forums Jan. 12 and 26

The League of Women Voters of Washington County will host two candidate forums with candidates from the upcoming nonpartisan judicial races coming up this spring.

The first forum is planned for 1:30-3 p.m. on Jan. 12, and will include the five candidates for Circuit Judge District 4, Division 8. Candidates for Circuit Judge District 4, Division 8 include Mieka Hatcher, Brian Hogue, Tim Snively, Diane Warren and Conrad Odom.

The second forum is set for Jan. 26, and will include candidates from State District Court Judge, District 2, Division 4 at 1:30 p.m., followed by candidates for Circuit Judge District 4, Division 3 at 2:30 p.m.

Candidates for State District Court Judge, District 2, Division 4 include Mark N. Scalise, David Dero Phillips, and Terra Stephenson.

Circuit Judge District 4, Division 3 candidates include Judge Stacey Zimmerman and Robert L. Depper III.

According to the League of Women Voters, the purpose of the forums are “to give Washington County voters an opportunity to learn more about their candidates, and the positions they are seeking.” The forums will follow the nonpartisan, unbiased and impartial format established and published by the League of Women Voters of Arkansas.” A portion of the questions for the candidates will be provided by the League, and the others will come from attendees of the events.

Both candidate forums are free to attend and open to the public.

The nonpartisan judicial general election will take place on March 3, 2020. More info about the election is available at the Washington County website.
