City officials have scheduled a public meeting to discuss the Cultural Arts Corridor project from 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16 in Room 326 of City Hal, located at 113 W. Mountain Street.

Image boards with information about the project will be on display and city staff will be available to discuss various aspects of the project.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Construction timeline and updates
  • Bond requirements and financial obligations
  • Replacement parking requirements and possible site locations
  • Project history and public outreach
  • Environment: forest health, stormwater issues, and SITES initiatives
  • Fay Jones Woods layout, trails, materials, etc.
  • West Avenue streetscapes

City staff will also be able to discuss how other city master plans and initiatives — such as the Downtown Master Plan, Arts Council Action Plan 2009-2012, and Fayetteville First Economic Development Plan — tie into the overall vision for the project. Staff will be collecting questions and public input to publish on Speak Up Fayetteville, the city’s online public engagement portal.

The city has contracted with Experience Fayetteville to benchmark how other cities have developed, operated, programmed, and maintained public parks within urban locations that are tourist destinations.

Neighboring and interested organizations, businesses, and individuals are encouraged to attend and engage with the staff and the public.

More information about the project can be found at www.fayetteville-ar.gov/culturalartscorridor and on the city’s engagement portal Speak Up Fayetteville.
