Walton Arts Center is seeking submissions from artists, makers, and fashion designers for an exhibition featuring up-cycled and recycled fashion called “Divinity from the Discarded.”

The show will be held in concert with an upcoming broadway show called Once on This Island, coming to Walton Arts Center next month, which features similarly sustainable costuming.

The show is set on a hurricane-ravaged island, and costume designer Clint Ramos was challenged to incorporate trash and found objects into his designs for the show.

“The whole unifying thought of the design was, how do we create divinity from the discarded,” Ramos said.

The submissions will be judged by a member of the creative team for the broadway show, and a select number of designed will be showcased alongside the show at Walton Arts Center. The winners will also receive tickets to the show, playing at Walton Arts Center Feb. 11-16.

Designers must be 18 years or older and living in Arkansas. To enter, submit a high-resolution image of a finished piece.

There is no entry fee, and entries must be received by Monday, Jan. 27. Winners will be announced on Friday, Jan. 31.

Full contest details and submission guidelines are available at www.waltonartscenter.org/divinityfromthediscarded.

Tickets to the show start at $40 plus fees. To purchase, visit the Walton Arts Center Box Office, call 479-443-5600, or visit waltonartscenter.org.
