UA to host gravel bike race with $1,000 total prize payout

The University of Arkansas Cycling Club and Walton College of Business will host the inaugural Tour of the Hollows gravel bike race on Saturday, March 28.

Participants can expect food, drinks, merchandise and $1,000 in prizes, with equal payouts for the men’s and women’s categories.

The event is organized entirely by UA student and faculty members, and will feature two route options – including the 60-mile Big Hollow and the 35-mile Small Hollow – that will showcase the beauty of the Northwest Arkansas landscape.

The top three finishers in the Big Hollow category will receive a cash prize, thanks to a contribution from the Sam M. Walton College of Business. The top three Small Hollow finishers will receive merchandise from Fayetteville bike shop The Bike Route.

Cost to register is $60 for the Big Hollow and $35 for the Small Hollow. Both routes start and finish in the Cove Creek township area near Prairie Grove. All proceeds will go directly toward supporting the UA cycling program.

Registration is available at www.bikereg.com/tour-of-the-hollows.
