Purr Cat Cafe to close Fayetteville location

Sad news, cat people. Fayetteville’s only ‘catfe’ will soon close its doors.

According to a post on their Facebook page, Purr Cat Cafe will close for good on Sunday, Feb. 2.

“Well, the time has come to wrap up this kooky project known as Purr,” the post read. “Our lease comes up in February & it’s been one wild ride, let me tell you – it was only ever supposed to last a year & here we are at 4 years & over 560 adoptions!”

The business originally planned to close on Feb. 16, but moved up the date to Feb. 2 due to all of the cats currently in the facility being adopted.

Purr opened on Township in the spring of 2016, and relocated to its current location at 1641 W 15th St, Suite 15 about a year later.

All of the people associated with the business will continue to work in the service of local felines, however. According to the Facebook post, Purr Catfe will transition into Purr Project NWA, “a foster-based rescue servicing special needs & at-risk cats from Fayetteville shelters.”

The catfe will offer free entry all weekend Jan. 31-Feb. 2, and all merchandise will be for sale for for just $1. All of the proceeds from their final weekend will be donated to cover the medical expenses of ‘Beans,’ a local cat currently undergoing treatment for heart irregularities.

For a bit more information about the final weekend festivities, check out the Facebook event.
