Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) will return to the stage for its 65th anniversary season this month.

SoNA will present Masterworks III: Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, featuring solo clarinetist Trevor Stewart, on Saturday, March 21, at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville.

The evening’s repertoire will include Fuga con pajarillo by Venezuelan composer Aldemaro Romero; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, Eroica; and Mozart’s concerto featuring Stewart, who is SoNA’s principal clarinetist.

“The Clarinet Concerto is one of Mozart’s most intimate works, and it’s perfect to showcase Trevor’s exceptional musicianship,” said SoNA music director Haas. “Beethoven’s third symphony Eroica is a thrilling piece that reflects the beginnings of the composer’s romantic style, while Romero — a beloved figure in Latin and Caribbean music — mixes folk elements with classical forms in Fuga con Pajarillo.”

Stewart also serves as principal clarinetist for the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and NAVO Chamber Orchestra. He’s performed with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, the Missouri Symphony, the Fort Smith Symphony, the Conway Symphony Orchestra and the Interlochen Philharmonic.

Tickets to the concerto are $33-$55, and are available by calling the Walton Arts Center box office at 479-443-5600 or by visiting sonamusic.org.

Prior to the performance, ticketholders are invited to a pre-concert conversation with Haas and Stewart at 6:30 p.m. in Baum Walker Hall. In addition, SoNA is offering a limited number of free tickets for youth age 18 and under to any of the season’s mainstage concerts with the purchase of an adult ticket.
