UPDATED: Fayetteville Public Schools to close March 16 until further notice

All Arkansas public schools will be closed for on-site instruction beginning on Tuesday, March 17 over concerns of the spread of coronavirus, Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced on Sunday.

The schools are required to close through the end of spring break, scheduled for March 23-27. As of now, schools would resume regular on-site instruction on March 30 unless another announcement is made.

Hutchinson said he would leave it up to the school districts on whether to close on Monday, March 16 to allow time for schools to prepare for online instruction if necessary.

Fayetteville district officials have elected to close beginning Monday, March 16, and will move to at-home instruction until further notice.

Fayetteville school offices will be open on Monday, March 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow families to pick up student medication and alternate instruction materials. Those material will also be available online.
