Washington Regional opens dedicated respiratory illness clinic

Washington Regional has converted one of its urgent care locations into a dedicated respiratory illness clinic.

The center is in the William L. Bradley Medical Plaza at 3 E. Appleby Road near the intersection of Bob Younkin Dr. in Fayetteville across from the main hospital.

The newly converted clinic is being used solely for the treatment of individuals who have respiratory illness, but who do not meet the current testing criteria at the nearby screening clinic.

When entering the medical plaza, just should follow the signs that read “Urgent Care Respiratory Illness Clinic.”

The screening clinic is currently following state Department of Health criteria for testing and will only test people who are experiencing symptoms of coronavirus (fever, cough and shortness of breath) and who certain criteria.

Criteria for being tested

  1. Patients must have symptoms of an upper respiratory infection (fever, cough, shortness of breath) that hasn’t previously been diagnosed as another illness
  2. They also must meet one of the following:

      – Are age 65 or older OR
      – Have a chronic health condition (heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, immunodeficiency) OR
      – Have had contact with someone who had a positive coronavirus test OR
      – Are a healthcare worker
