Fishing permit fees will be waived for a while longer at Lake Fayetteville and Lake Sequoyah.
The Fayetteville parks department announced a waiver extension to delay fees until at least April 17. The fees had previously been waived through late March in accordance with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s state waiver.
Both lakes are open for bank fishing only. Boat ramps and marinas are closed. Officials said patrons must still abide by all state regulations, and should practice social distancing in groups of no more than 10 people.
“In these stressful times, fishing is a great activity to relieve stress and our lakes are great places to practice social distancing,” said Mayor Lioneld Jordan. “Please ensure that your visits to Fayetteville lakes, parks and trails do not compromise the overall safety of the community.”
