Razorbacks host sidewalk chalk art contest and Hog Call challenge this weekend

The UA Athletic Department will host a Wooo Pig Weekend with several virtual events and challenges for fans from Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26.

Festivities include a sidewalk chalk art contest, a Hog Call challenge, two broadcasts of exciting games from the past, and the kickoff of the ninth-annual HOGSPY Awards.

To enter the sidewalk chalk contest, fans must snap a photo of their artwork then post it on Twitter and tag @ArkRazorbacks. The top four finalists will be announced on Sunday, April 26, followed by a fan vote later that day to decide the winner. Finalists will each win four tickets to a Razorback football home game, while the winning artist will win four tickets and four pregame sideline passes to a home football game, as well as a signed football from Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman.

On Saturday, the athletic department will seek to connect its fans all over the world, tasking Razorbacks everywhere to take part in a virtual Hog Call at 7 p.m. CT. All fans will have to do is go outside in their favorite gameday gear, call the Hogs loud and proud, and post the video to Twitter using the #ONEHogCall hashtag. A selection of a few department favorites will be chosen as winners, and individuals will win tickets to a Razorback football home game.

As for broadcasts, the Razorback Baseball Facebook account will feature a live broadcast of Arkansas’ 2015 SEC Tournament game against then-No. 4 Florida at 6:30 p.m. CT Friday, April 24. The game is considered one of the most memorable SEC Tournament games in Arkansas baseball history.

Immediately following the Hog Call on Saturday night, the Razorback Football Facebook account will broadcast one of the most exciting upsets in Arkansas sports history at 7:30 p.m. CT: the Razorbacks’ 50-48 win over No. 1 LSU in triple overtime from 2007.

The weekend will also kick off the ninth-annual HOGSPY Awards, which will take place virtually this year. During the week of April 27, the department will celebrate the best in athletics, academics, leadership and community service. HOGSPY award nominations are submitted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, coaches and staff. Winners are determined by a vote of selected groups for each award. Finalists were announced today.
