It’s been a long time since anyone has been able to enjoy a cocktail from Maxine’s Tap Room. A really long time. Weeks. Kinda feels like years.
And even though we aren’t going to be able to be together in person at Maxine’s (or any other bar, for that matter) for a while now, you will be able to enjoy one of their concoctions at home soon, thanks to a new partnership with Dickson Street Liquor called “Maxine’s Home Edition” announced today.
The longtime local liquor store is set to begin delivering kits with everything you need for a Maxine’s Old Times Sake & Paloma beginning next week, just in time for Cinco de Mayo.
The new kits are $50 each, and will include all the ingredients for the drink, from the liquor to the mixers and garnishes, and are available to purchase now via the store’s website.
In addition, Maxine’s bartender Anthony Taylor will teach folks how to make the drink via Facebook and Instagram Live during happy hour at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5.
“We miss our customers so much, and though it would be fun to let you bring a little piece of Maxine’s home,” said Hannah Withers, one of the proprietors of the bar. “We are excited about this new partnership with Dickson Street Liquor, and to be able to connect with our customers, just in a little bit different way since we can’t physically be together right now.”
If all goes well, Maxine’s plans to create addition kits for delivery featuring their signature drinks every Tuesday and Friday for the next three weeks, with bartenders going live to provide instruction on how to make them.
Bartender Stephen Idlet is next up, and will be making two drinks on Friday.
Proceeds from the kits will benefit Maxine’s and their employees. The bar has been closed for more than a month, but has been coming up with creative ways to try and create revenue with merchandise sales, “bond sales,” and now, these new drink kits.
The first round of kits will be delivered Monday between 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., or Tuesday between 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
