Kansas cancels Walton Arts Center performance

A performance from the band Kansas that was scheduled for May 29 at Walton Arts Center has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Officials said the band hopes to return to Arkansas sometime in 2021.

Ticket holders will automatically receive a refund to their original method of payment and a receipt verifying the refund was processed, according to a news release. Anyone who doesn’t receive notification by May 21 or who paid with cash should call the center’s box office at 479-443-5600.

The Fayetteville stop was part of the last leg of the band’s tour in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Kansas’ hit album “Point of Know Return.” The band had been performing the album in its entirety during the tour.

The album’s hit single “Dust in the Wind” peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1978. The album itself peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s album charts and reached sextuple-platinum status with more than six million copies sold.

The status of all shows impacted by COVID-19 is available at waltonartscenter.org/ticketing-updates/.
