A portion of Niokaska Creek Trail will close temporarily while crews complete an infrastructure improvement project near Gulley Park.
The trail is scheduled to close between the park and Azalea Terrace beginning Monday, July 20. The work is expected to last about a month.
The project includes replacing the existing surface with a 12-foot-wide concrete trail and installing lighting.
Those hoping to access Gully Park from Azalea should instead use Country Way to enter the park, according to a news release.
The work is part of a larger trail extension project that will ultimately connect Gulley Park to the Razorback Greenway via Mud Creek Trail near Old Missouri Road. Once complete, Niokaska Creek Traill will extend three miles through new areas that should put an estimated 4,000 residents within a quarter mile of the trail system.
Construction of the new trail east of Azalea is nearing completion, and as of July 20, only a small section of concrete pouring remained (see map below).
