Grammy Award-winning artist Larry Mitchell, U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, and folk musician Katie Martin will perform at TheatreSquared’s new facility on Dickson Street next week.

T2 officials this week announced plans to host the trio of performers in concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8.

Mitchell is a producer, engineer, and performer known for his work as a guitarist for artists such as Tracy Chapman, Billy Squier, Ric Ocasek and Miguel Bosé. He has also released nine solo albums. He won a Grammy for producing, engineering and performing on “Totemic Flute Chants” by artist Johnny Whitehorse, who is better known as Robert Mirabal of Taos Pueblo.

Harjo is an internationally renowned performer and writer of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and was named the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States in 2019. She is the author of 9 books of poetry, several plays and children’s books, and a memoir, Crazy Brave.

A handful of invited guests will attend the performance in person with strict social distancing guidelines in place, and the public will be invited to watch the show via livestream on T2’s new multi-camera high-definition broadcast system debuting officially this fall.

Access to the livestream will be available anywhere in the world, and will be free with a suggested donation to help support T2.
