Fayetteville adds Madden league to esports program

The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation division has added Madden NFL 21 to its new esports program which features sports-based video game leagues.

The new Madden 21 leagues are for youth ages 11 to 17 and for adults ages 18 and up. The cost is $5 per person and the deadline for registration is Sept. 4. Registration is available online at www.fayetteville-ar.gov/recreation.

The Madden league will include a five-week regular season, with one match per week, scheduled for Tuesday evenings. Game platforms eligible are PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. There will be separate leagues for each platform. A one-week tournament will follow the season, and prizes will be awarded to the winning team.

The city’s first esports league, the 2v2 Rocket League, is continuing to accept registration through Friday, Aug. 14. Additional leagues are planned for the fall, including NBA2k21 and FIFA 21.
